What We Can Achieve Together:

The Communications Coordinator implements tactics in approved communication and/or media strategies by providing general administrative and programmatic support to department/team unit. They are responsible for developing, maintaining, and distributing relevant communication and/or media materials. They maintain media contacts, write news releases, and respond to media requests and inquiries. They make recommendations for new audience targets and conservation messages. They track results of program initiatives and reports findings to program managers. They help facilitate and coordinate on-going communication between all parts of the globally dispersed marketing division, internal and external stakeholders.

We’re Looking for You:

The Communications & Social Media Coordinator will focus on the development and execution of internal and external facing social media content and other additional communications needs in support of the Chief Conservation Office.

This is a term-limited position which reports to the Communications and Project Manager of the Chief Conservation Office. This position is a short-term, part-time lasting six months and ~20 hours a week with no offered benefits. Salary is $20/hr.

Tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop Chief Conservation Officers voice on internal and external social media channels
  • Create a monthly content calendar with various forms of media including to execute, manage and monitor analytics for understanding where to improve and develop.
  • Set KPIs around engagement goals and track progress against them on a monthly basis.  
    • External channels – Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube - Share TNC conservation stories and content, environmental/conservation news from science-based/reliable sources, personal stories, etc. Grow followers, listen & engage with replies and amplify the work of peers and thought leaders to boost Chief Conservation Officer’s visibility.
    • Internal Channels – Microsoft Stream, Workplace, Zoom, Intranet site, monthly internal emails, and potentially Chief Conservation Officer blog
  • Provide communication support to various Chief Conservation Office needs, as needed, including:
    • Back-end support on Virtual Office Hours
    • Initial outreach for communications
    • Content/video programming and editing support
  • Manages storage and distribution of media/communication materials.
  • Duties are performed under general supervision and established guidelines.
  • Opportunity to act independently on assigned tasks and projects.
  • May work with other parties to execute deliverables.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or have a Bachelor’s degree in related field and a minimum 2 years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience writing and/or editing publications and related materials. Social and digital media management experience including planning, promoting, and analysis.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Multi-lingual skills appreciated.
  • Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience preferred.
  • Experience with marketing/communications content development.
  • Experience with a social media management tool preferred (e.g. Khoros, Hootsuite).
  • Excellent writing, presentation, communication skills.
  • Familiarity with communication technologies and best practices.
  • Familiarity and some application of current and evolving trends in relevant discipline.
  • Experience providing customer service for client relationships.

Compensation Information

This position is a short-term, part-time lasting six months and ~20 hours a week with no offered benefits. Salary is $20/hr.

The location of this position is flexible within the United States. This position is not eligible for relocation, visa or immigration assistance. The job offers flex time but also requires a flexible schedule. TNC teammates and management collaborate with care to best accommodate each other’s schedules and preferred working hours.
