Summary
The Field Operations Manager (FOM) is a full-time, exempt position at EarthCorps. The FOM position is responsible for day-to-day field operations including the scheduling of projects on the field calendar; direct supervision of the Field Team (project managers, project coordinator); project procurement and development, implementation and review between EarthCorps and partner agencies/organizations; contract management; budgeting; field leadership of crew leaders/crews; and responsibility for maintaining safety standards and organizational goals of EarthCorps in all endeavors. In addition, the position collaborates with the Corps Program Manager to successfully fulfill the mission of EarthCorps. The FOM reports to the Program Director.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Project Procurement and Professional Services (30%)
- Collaborates with Program Director and field team staff to secure nearly $2M annually in fee for service ecological restoration contracts and grants
- Consult, scope and design ecological restoration and community-based projects
- Deliver public presentations for clients (proposals and as built reporting, advocating for funding etc.)
- Manage incoming client requests and coordinate with project managers as needed
- Manage and coordinate disbursement of resources, either money, materials or field time, amongst agency partners
- Work with field staff and community engagement team on new project procurement which includes site visits and coordination with partners
- Provides market analysis and recommendations to executive director and program director regarding fee for service rates
- Collaborates with Program Director, Development Team and colleagues to apply, track and report on field related grant opportunities.
Field Operations (30%)
- Responsible for day-to-day field operations for 5-7 habitat restoration crews and 3-4 field staff
- Review field calendar on a regular (weekly, monthly quarterly) basis for gaps and work with field staff to fill those gaps
- Collaborate with Logistics Manager on the purchase and maintenance of field related tools, equipment and vehicles
- Work in partnership with the Program Director, Corps Program Manager, and Logistics Manager to ensure cross department communication and collaboration, in addition to annual and long-term planning for our corps training program
- Actively work to create a race equity culture internally to support partnership development
- Collaborate with staff to troubleshoot/problem solve projects, staffing and agency partners
- Maintain project files, including documentation of work, receipts, and contract compliance.
Supervision (25%)
- Responsible for the hiring, training, coaching, supervision and development of Field Team members (project managers and logistics manager)
- Supports leadership development corps members
- Enforces the standards of behavior as well as policies and procedures of EarthCorps and ensures adherence to program goals and mission
- Leads by example, working alongside corps members and crew leaders
- Counsels, motivates or disciplines individual corps members and Leadership Cohort as needed.
- Leads technical trainings as needed with staff and corpsmembers
Project Management (10%)
- Manages ecological restoration projects in collaboration with agency partners. Projects may include invasive plant removal, native revegetation, stream restoration, erosion control, site stewardship, trail maintenance/construction, and volunteer management.
- Coordinates and schedules field work projects with the Field Team.
- Develops and maintains exceptional relationships with clients
- Ensures all projects meet quality and quantity expectations along with budget and timeline agreed upon with client. Serves as on-site project manager for EarthCorps.
- Manages purchasing of materials and invoicing for their field projects.
Organizational Engagement (5%)
- Serves on risk management committee
- Ensures excellent communication and collaboration with the Program Team and other departments.
Compensation Information
SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary $75,000 –$80,000 per year based on 40-hour per week and dependent on experience.
