The Seasonal Relief Crew position runs from early March to Labor Day, pays $15/hour, and is eligible for crew housing. The Seasonal Relief Crew position runs from early March to Labor Day, pays $15/hour, and is eligible for crew housing. As a relief crew member, you would work on both boats and assist with maritime education programs, including day trips on vessels, land/sea programs, charters, and virtual programs.
Essential Functions: Responsibilities of the Relief Crew include, but are not limited to:
Conduct and supervise safe and successful educational programs with assistance from onboard staff and other Living Classrooms employees.
Assist with land-based portion of programs (land/sea, shore-side camping, virtual programs).
Assist with the ship’s operations including line and sail handling, navigation and steering the ship.
Assist with all summer camp activities like cleaning, cooking, setting up tents, organizing games, and supervising free play.
Assist with ship’s maintenance when needed.
Become familiar with instructing groups with different needs and learning abilities.
Welcome, communicate with, and encourage participation of teachers in programs.
Maintain, monitor, and care for education supplies to keep in good condition and supply.
