Summary

Join our team! The Tahoe Rim Trail Association (TRTA) is hiring a Program Coordinator. The Program Coordinator will organize and implement guided outdoor programs for youth and adults on the Tahoe Rim Trail. We're looking for a passionate, friendly, and hardworking person with experience working with volunteers and providing outdoor programming to help facilitate adventures and education that deepens the public's connection with Tahoe's backcountry and natural spaces.

About Us:

The TRTA is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization formed in 1981 to build, maintain, and improve outdoor recreation infrastructure in the Lake Tahoe Basin. Today, the TRTA is the primary steward of the 200-mile Tahoe Rim Trail system. Our mission is to maintain and enhance the Tahoe Rim Trail system, practice and inspire stewardship, and preserve access to the natural beauty of the Lake Tahoe region. Our dedicated and growing staff of eight is based out of our office in Stateline, NV, on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe.

The Tahoe Rim Trail Association believes that time spent outdoors has the power to bring people of all identities, backgrounds, and cultures together and that time in nature is essential for everyone's physical and mental health. As we work to address barriers to accessing the outdoors, we are committed to celebrating and growing the diversity of outdoor enthusiasts and our organization. We value diversity and the skills, knowledge, and experience that difference brings to our organization. We encourage applications from people with disabilities, people from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds, mature age workers, and LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC people. We make all employment decisions based on organizational needs, job requirements, and individual qualifications, without regard to race, color, religion or belief, national, social, or ethnic origin, sex, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, and/or expression, or any other status protected by the laws where we operate.

About the Position:

The TRTA's Program Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day management and logistics of guided adult programs such as the TRTA's multiday trips (15-day Thru Hike and 11-week day hikes), day trips (short, introductory educational hikes and snowshoe trips), and backcountry skills courses (Snow Camping 101 and Leave No Trace courses) led by the TRTA's volunteer Guide Team. Additionally, they will support the TRTA's signature Youth Backcountry Camp Program by coordinating trip meals and packaging. For all youth and adult programs, they will help create and manage online participant registrations and assist with participant communication and screening. As a permanent member of the TRTA staff, the Program Coordinator will receive company-paid health, vision, and dental insurance; paid vacation, holidays, and sick leave; and retirement contribution matching.

Due to the in-person nature of the duties, this position must operate out of our Stateline, NV office.

About You:

In a nutshell, we're looking for someone with knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques for implementing comprehensive guided trips, environmental education, and supporting outdoor recreation. A passion for the outdoors and connecting people with outdoor opportunities is a must.
