We seek a full time AmeriCorps member to join us from March through October 2022 to lead Homestead summer camps for ages 5-11, support and lead homestead and ranch programming, including field trips and home school programming for all ages, public tours of the Homestead site and events engaging our small town community; support production at the Community & School Farm raising produce for the school, hospital and community; and join our non-profit agricultural education team.

Summary

Guidestone Colorado is seeking a 2022 Homestead / Ranch Educator.  This position is for an  AmeriCorps member to serve a three quarter term, which is full time from March through October 2022 through the Healthy Futures AmeriCorps program.  

The Homestead / Ranch Educator will work with Guidestone's Hutchinson Homestead to:

- Lead hands-on, experiential Homestead summer camps for ages 5-11, and support in all aspects of additional spring and summer program development, including descriptions, scheduling, and implementation. 

- Support the development and implementation of Spring Break programs, Camp Fridays, Little Spurs, and fall after-school programs. 

- Support school field trip programming. 

- Assist with the development of teaching and interpretation materials. 

- Ensure a safe, effective and positive learning environment, and empower students to connect to the land and learn about history, traditional arts and agriculture.

- Provide tours and visitor center support when open to the public. 

- Assist with the development and implementation of community events, including  Pumpkin Patch, the Holiday Open House, and other events at the Hutchinson Homestead and Hutchinson Ranch. 

- Support production activities at the Community & School Farm in the spring and fall, and as needed on an emergency basis. 

- Capacity building - Members innovate organizational systems, programs, and methods that allow rural organizations to more effectively understand and address community need. 10% of time spent on fundraising, including grant writing. 

- Support farm events
