Summary
Since 1961, Essex County Greenbelt Association (Greenbelt) has worked within the 34 cities and towns of Essex County, Massachusetts, helping individuals, families, municipalities and organizations realize their land conservation goals. Greenbelt has protected over 18,500 acres of land to date and is recognized as the most active land conservation organization in the region.
Greenbelt seeks a part-time events and outreach assistant. This position will report to the Events Manager, and will also work with the Director of Development and Community Engagement on outreach communications.
Core Responsibilities and Scope
• Support Greenbelt Development and Community Engagement Department with events, engagement programs and communications
• Assist with in person events, especially major “signature” organizational events • Assist with outreach communications, contributing to social media, press releases and newsletters, with an expectation that communications responsibilities will become more robust as knowledge of the organization grows Position Details
• Part time position, 16 hours per week, flexible hours possible within guidelines below
• Pay rate $18 - $20 per hour, commensurate with experience
• Work may be partially remote, with in-person work required during events (pending public health requirements, and following all protocols to protect employee health and safety)
• Work at events may occur during evening or weekend hours
• Dates of important events when availability is mandatory:
o June 6-13, 2022 for Art in the Barn, in Essex, MA
o August 20, 2022 for Trail Run, in Hamilton, MA
o September 12- 19, 2022 for Tour de Greenbelt cycling event, in Essex, MA
Qualifications
• Advanced computer skills, including ability to learn to complete specific tasks in programs such as Square (Point of Sale and back-end setup), Photoshop, Word, Excel, WordPress and our other CMS, Raiser’s Edge, Ride with GPS, BikeReg, SignUp, Filemaker databases, Zoom, and more; training provided, but a solid foundation of computer skills is a must. Previous experience with any of these programs a plus, but not required.
• Ability to work independently.
• Reliable access to the internet if working from home.
• Exceptional organizational skills and ability to meet multiple overlapping deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Valid MA driver’s license required.
• Ability to complete activities including shopping for events, with the potential to have to lift up to 40 pounds
• Love of conservation and the outdoors.
