Summary

The University of Florida Forest Health team is looking for a student or a colleague to STUDY AND EXECUTE Backyard Nature Conservation and/or Creation Care campaigns

We are looking for a student to undertake one of these projects, or both:

  1. increasing biodiversity in Florida’s backyards, and
  2. nature conservation messaging that works for communities of faith.

In both cases, the project will include a communciation campaign for homeowners, Cooperative Extension personnel across Florida, and arborists, in order to increase the presence of habitat snags and biodiversity wood piles in yards. We want to know how to do it safely, how to communicate with the arborist community, which audiences are responsive, and which messages work.

Stipend and tuition would be fully covered.

Ideally someone interested in a Masters degree, but we are flexible with appointment arrangements. Experience with modern strategic advocacy campaigns, electronic communication for behavior change, or Cooperative Extension, will be an advantage. Our perspective on science communication is described here and here.

How to apply:

To apply, send your CV, example(s) of writing or audiovisual materials, and a list of hobbies, to hulcr@ufl.edu. Deadline: February 10th.
