Nature Day Camp Counselor

This is a seasonal position to provide a fun and memorable experience for our campers in Landis Woods Nature Day Camp. A chosen candidate will be in direct contact with children, counselors, parents, and the naturalist.

2022 Camp Dates: June 6- Aug 12, staff training May 31-June 2

Essential Job Functions:

• Engage campers with new and recurring structured games and activities.
• Effectively communicate rules, guidelines, scoring, and possible scenarios in regard to activities.
• Plan environmental education lessons alongside co-counselors
• Engage in arts and crafts activities.
• Assist with day to day operations.
• Ensure children are in a safe environment at all times.
• Assist in coordinating structured games, activities, and crafts.
• Ensure proper usage of supplies and equipment.
• Keep track of supplies including; sporting equipment, crafts, and board game pieces.
• Effectively communicate rules, guidelines, scoring, and possible scenarios in regards to activities.
• Promote a positive outdoor experience

Qualifications:

• Outgoing, energetic, and positive attitude.
• Can commit to a varying (8-9/hr) shift during the hours of 6:45am-6:15pm, Mon-Friday, for the duration of the program.
• Team player; effectively work with other employees, Director,  Activities Manager
• Communicate to children from grades 1-6. Speak clearly to large and small groups.
• Willingness to work outside and have a positive attitude towards nature
• Reliable individual; showing up on time.
• Pass State & Federal background checks.
• Participate in CPR & First Aid Training.

Position Hours:

This candidate will be working a varying (8-9/hr) shift during the hours of 6:45am-6:15pm, Mon-Friday. For the duration of the program (10 weeks).
