The North Carolina Zoo in partnership with East Carolina University is looking for a graduate student to evaluate our new educational app we are building. This is a funded Graduate Research Assistant position for a Master's Degree at ECU.

Summary

The Recreation & Park Administration Program at East Carolina University, in partnership with the North Carolina Zoo, is pleased to announce an opening for an M.S. level graduate research assistantship (GRA) starting in the Fall 2022.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

Working under the supervision of Dr. Jeffrey Skibins and the North Carolina Zoo, the GRA will assist with research related to building capacity for zoo visitors’ self-directed learning using an app and augmented reality technology. This two year study will focus on how technology-driven learning opportunities affect the visitor experience as it relates to interpretation, STEM careers, accessibility, and K – 12 activities.

GRAs are 9-month, 20-hour per week positions that include a competitive stipend, tuition waiver, and health insurance benefits. The position is renewable each year based on satisfactory progress.
