Summary
Members will serve with Resource Conservation Departmental staff in the office and in the field on project sites focused on environmental restoration and agricultural conservation practices. The Restoration and Outreach Technician will increase the community impact of the District by supporting the direct implementation of conservation practices, recruiting and managing volunteers for restoration projects, and contributing to social media and outreach outlets.
The three main goals of this position are to:
- Improve water quality by achieving increased survival of riparian buffers;
- Coordinate volunteer participation in watershed restoration projects;
- Educate and raise community awareness on the importance of stewardship behaviors and conservation practices that influence water quality and the impacts of pollution.
Member will also participate alongside other District staff and AmeriCorps members, supporting efforts in Research and Monitoring and Education and Outreach Departments, including service projects, effectiveness monitoring, in-classroom education, and professional development.
Member will need to be able to serve in varying weather conditions (rain, snow, heat) for extended periods of time over uneven terrain.
Anticipated program start date of September 16, 2022 for a 1700 hour term of service. Service members are responsible for their own housing. A monthly stipend is provided by Washington Service Corps along with an education award upon the completion of service hours.
