Join the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium's Conservation Engagement team! This position plays both supportive and leadership roles in the development and implementation of group programs including Zoo Explorers winter and summer day camps and Zoo Snoozes.

This a year-round permanent position with medical benefits and paid time off. Average 35 hours/week for the year. (This is why it's considered "part-time".) $19.06 - $21.04/hour

Summary

Join the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium's Conservation Engagement team! This position plays both supportive and leadership roles in the development and implementation of group programs including Zoo Explorers winter and summer day camps and Zoo Snoozes. The Guest Engagement Group Programs Specialist works within a collaborative team including program instructors, volunteers and other members of the department and organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Work closely with Guest Engagement Group Program Coordinator to plan, develop and implement programs for youth and families.
  • Work with multiple departments on logistics, scheduling, as well as training and mentoring instructors who deliver programs.
  • Work with Program Coordinator and program instructors to ensure that programs are staffed appropriately.
  • Lead program activities in various environments on Zoo grounds and in Point Defiance Park.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of program records and reports.
  • Adhere to and assist in the enforcement of all policies and procedures for group program operations.
  • Uphold all Zoo safety and personnel policies and support the overall mission.
  • Assist with the overall maintenance and proper care, cleaning, disinfection, and storage of program materials and equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
