Description:
Lead trail walks for groups of 20-25 students through a variety of coastal ecosystems and be able to teach hands on environmental and science lessons. Encourage appropriate student behavior through positive reinforcement strategies and techniques. Organize and lead large group activities for up to 150 participants. Conduct campfire and evening programs using songs, stories, and science-themed games. Maintain a clean, safe, and secure facility. Accurately dispense medications and perform first aid on an as-needed basis. Strive to create a positive and memorable lifetime experience for all participants. (NOTE: We are also hiring fulltime naturalists to begin in August. You can apply for both positions.)
Education:
A BA or BS degree from an accredited college or university preferred or the completion of a BA or BS within one year of hire.
Experience:
One year experience with children and/or environmental education preferred.
Conditions of Employment:
- Possess, within one month of employment, certificate for First Aid & CPR issued by American Red Cross or equivalent.
- Obtain a clear certificate of tuberculosis.
- Obtain fingerprint clearance by the FBI and California Department of Justice. (After all other required job conditions are met.)
- Obtain pre-placement medical assessment to lift 50 lbs and perform other job duties. (After all other required job conditions are met.)
- Some positions require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and possession of valid California Motor Vehicle operator’s license.
