Rocky Point Bird Observatory Society is looking to contract an enthusiastic individual, interested in birds and the outdoors, to deliver programming to adults and youth regarding birds and their conservation. This contract will include development, planning and delivery of a variety of educational programs, workshops, and events.

Summary

Rocky Point Bird Observatory Society (www.rpbo.org) is looking to contract an enthusiastic individual, interested in birds and the outdoors, to deliver programming to adults and youth regarding birds and their conservation. This contract will include development, planning and delivery of a variety of educational programs, workshops, and events.

Project Overview:

Delivery of a Community Education and Outreach Program to children, youth, adults, and community groups in Greater Victoria, that fits the vision and mission of Rocky Point Bird Observatory.

RPBO has up to $9000 for this calendar year to deliver these programs, with the intention to have funding available for the continuation of this role in future years. This role is part-time hours.

Project Goals:

  • Develop content for children and adults
  • Develop execution strategy
  • Develop a timeline for events throughout the year
  • Follow the Strategic Plan directive for Education and Outreach goals
  • Maintain current programs
  • Design new programs
  • Develop and maintain partnerships for new and existing collaborative efforts
  • Design a plan for a revenue stream for adult programs

Scope of Work:

  • Identification of, and participation in, RPBO events
  • Organization of, and participation in, third party events
  • Identification of, and coordination with, public, private and home schools
  • Preparation and execution of digital and in-person presentations
  • Assist in financial planning for education programs
  • Coordinate with Development Director for marketing of RPBO programs and events
  • Train and supervise education volunteers

  • Bird Identification skills (Identification of local species by sight and sound is required)
  • Experience as an Educational Instructor to children/youth and adults/seniors
  • Experience in creating lesson plans
  • Experience in designing promotional materials
  • Reliable personal transportation
  • Be available for events at various daytime hours on weekdays and weekends
