Part-time Environmental Science Educator (28 hrs/week)

Trees For Tomorrow (TFT) is an accredited residential environmental education center in Eagle River WI that has been promoting conservation education since 1944.  Today, TFT works with thousands of teachers, students, and other members of the public to promote sustainable natural resource management through transformative educational experiences.  TFT is seeking a part-time (28 hrs/week), year-round environmental educator.  This is your chance to share your love for the outdoors with others, all while living and working in one of the most beautiful places in the Midwest!

Trees For Tomorrow's Environmental Science Educators...

• Teach environmental science to preK-12 groups in the forests and waters of Wisconsin’s Northwoods
• Present courses and special programs in a knowledgeable, stimulating, engaging, and objective manner
• Guide participants of all ages and backgrounds in safe outdoor inquiry-based learning and activities.
• Work with education team to write and edit curriculum and assess student learning
• Operate all equipment related to course and program presentation.
• Interact with live program animals, and animal artifacts such as skulls, pelts, and other taxidermy.
• Other duties as assigned, including opportunities to create and coordinate programs you are passionate about

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in field of natural resources, biology, education or related field preferred, though relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education.
• Experience in the field(s) of outdoor/environmental education, general education, or natural sciences
• Familiarity with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) preferred but not required
• Current valid driver’s license
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Ability to manage a group of students and chaperones (30+ at a time).
• Willingness to learn and teach outdoor skills such hiking, canoeing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, biking, fire building, etc.
• High sense of professionalism, strong team player, positive attitude
• Good organizational skills and self-motivated
• Willingness to interact with live program animals and taxidermy
• Ability to walk 5 miles per day with a 10lb pack over rough terrain, and lift 25 lbs. overhead
• Ability to drive a 15-passenger van with a canoe trailer
• Willingness to obtain a Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL)
