Featured Open Partner Positions, South Bay Area
For the 2022-23 cycle beginning in September 2022, Climate Corps partners offer a wide variety of fellowship placements. Partner positions will continuously be added to our website throughout spring and summer 2022. Here are some of our featured fellowships in the South Bay Area:
School Garden Coordinator - AmeriCorps, KIPP Prize School (San Jose)

The school garden coordinator will be responsible for bringing the vision of a working school garden to life. The garden will be a place for sustainable education, food equity and real life skills. Sustainability Community Engagement Fellow, City of Sunnyvale (Sunnyvale)
The City of Sunnyvale is excited to host two Community Engagement Fellows for 2022-23: one position focuses on Sustainability Programs and the other focuses on Watershed Programs. Both positions work within our Sustainability and Watershed Protection Programs team in the Environmental Services Department. Our team works to educate the community to follow environmental regulations and inspire local action. Our sustainability programs focus on community outreach for climate action, decarbonizing buildings and transportation, and environmental education.
We are looking for an energetic and creative Fellow to contribute to these programs through community outreach and engagement and effective program design. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong communication and organizational skills who enjoy a collaborative team environment.
This Fellowship will primarily focus on community engagement and outreach activities to implement the City’s Climate Action Playbook. This is a year-long (12-month) Fellowship term from September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2023. Click here to read more and apply!
Watershed Community Engagement Fellow, City of Sunnyvale (Sunnyvale)
The City of Sunnyvale is excited to host two Community Engagement Fellows for 2022-23: one position focuses on Sustainability Programs and the other focuses on Watershed Programs. Both positions work within our Sustainability and Watershed Protection Programs team in the Environmental Services Department. Our team works to educate the community to follow environmental regulations and inspire local action. Our watershed program focuses on community outreach environmental education, stormwater and wastewater pollution prevention, and water conservation.
We are looking for an energetic and creative Fellow to contribute to these programs through community outreach and engagement and effective program design. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with strong communication and organizational skills who enjoy a collaborative team environment.
This Fellowship will primarily focus on community engagement and outreach to reduce pollution in stormwater and wastewater, which can contaminate local creeks and the Bay. The Fellow will also focus on water conservation education as California continues to face severe drought conditions. This is a 10-month Fellowship term from September 1, 2022, through June 30, 2023. Desired Qualifications (General):
- Availability and commitment to the full-time fellowship program. Fellowships typically range from 10-12 months in length and will begin in September 2022. Most positions currently include some on-site work, unless noted otherwise in the position description.
- Climate Corps Fellows must have completed a 4-year degree by the time the program cycle starts. We are looking for emerging professionals with:
- An educational background in environmental policy, science, engineering, sustainable management or planning degrees (volunteer and internship experience will be considered).
- A general understanding of clean energy or environmental policy.
- Community outreach and communications experience.
- A connection to the placement location. This is an equal opportunity position and we prefer to place a candidate who already lives in the region being served.
- Genuizne commitment to anti-racism, willingness to work in racial equity frameworks, experience in addressing racism and racial equity with team members and programmatically.
AmeriCorps Qualifications:
- Be U.S. citizens or legal permanent residents
- Have a high school diploma/GED
- Be 17 years old or older
- Pass state criminal and FBI background checks, and a national check in the Dru Sjodin National Sex Offender Public Registry
- Test negatively for tuberculosis if working with minors
- Be vaccinated against COVID-19 or submit to weekly testing
- Live in the state of California

- Living allowance stipend of $2,636+ per month (before taxes). Select positions may offer an enhanced stipend.

Application Process:
To become a Fellow, please submit an online application and resume. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until all placements are filled. Once the application is complete and has been reviewed, applicants who qualify will be contacted for an interview. Fellows need to be available and eligible to start by the first week of September 2022.
