Particular areas of focus for this role include:

 Managing educational programs for school and scout groups

  • Connect with past and prospective groups, share information about farm programming, and make customized recommendations based on group’s need, age(s) and interests.
  • In coordination with the Communications and Outreach Coordinator, create flyers, email campaigns and/or attend community outreach events to publicize the farm’s offerings.  Schedule staffing for educational programs, coordinating calendars between farm staff, full-time teachers and per-diem teachers. Manage scheduling, registrations, and payments for all programs, including tracking incoming payments, sending payment reminders when necessary, and tracking both school/scout/volunteer groups as well as the all-farm calendar. 
  • Manage registration and payments for all programs, including tracking incoming payments in coordination with the Bookkeeper and sending payment reminders when necessary.
  •  Create and maintain a data dashboard for school, scout and volunteer programs to track the farm’s reach and impact. With this data, generate monthly and year-end summaries for the Executive Director and/or Board.
  • Oversee curriculum for school and scout programming, updating and/or re-writing when needed, brainstorming with teachers on adaptations for different grade levels, monitor curriculum alignment with MA Curriculum standards.  
  • Teach in these programs when necessary. 

Outreach and management of farm volunteers, including work-study students.

  • Solicit and support volunteer groups, which include: community members, corporate and college groups, middle and high school volunteers, college and work-study students, and court referrals.
  • Support the hiring of work-study students including, posting opportunities, helping with new hire paperwork, communicating with college offices.
  • Coordinate volunteer schedules, generating a weekly schedule for farm staff. 
  • Support the on-boarding of volunteers to the farm’s culture and facilities. 

Special farm events, particularly our maple sugaring season.  

  • Under general supervision of the Assistant Director, the Program Coordinator manages our high-volume maple sugaring season, from approximately mid-February to mid-March: scheduling tours and groups, assisting with registrations, scheduling staff, volunteers and board members for tours, and serving as on-site contact for staff and the public for all Maple events.
