Spend a season in the sunny Carolinas as a School Year Programs Instructor with YMCA Camp Thunderbird! Located on beautiful Lake Wylie, the Environmental Education Center and Conference & Retreat Program provide unique learning experiences for school groups and community groups. Instructors teach classes during the week for our Environmental Education Center and lead programs for visiting retreat groups.
Our curriculum of 24 classes range in topics from aquatic, forest, and wildlife ecology to astronomy, pioneer study, canoeing, and teambuilding. Two evenings a week, instructors lead meals and evening programs. Weekend work is required on a rotating basis.
Compensation includes $400/week, staff housing (staff have own rooms and shared kitchen and bathroom spaces), most meals, free internet, a complimentary Charlotte YMCA membership, and a staff training period that offers CPR, first aid, and lifeguard certification.. Previous experience working with children is highly recommended. Positions available from August 15 to December 11, 2022 with possible extension January - May.
