Summary
We are looking for enthusiastic people who are wanting to gain a better understanding and experience in community-based restoration and education. Apprentices will learn about various topics like environmental justice/policy/planning, habitat restoration design in private agricultural lands, as well as publicly managed parks and refuges by directly working directly with these concepts. List of Apprentice tasks include:
Sep-March Restoration Season
- Restoration Days
- Oversee volunteers, focused on K-12 students and adults during restoration project days and lead planting groups or learning stations.
- Teach concepts of restoration and climaye change science through inquiry-based learning to K-12 students
- Implement restoration practices such as native plant species planting and willow harvesting witht the guidance of Project Managers ans Senior Project Managers
- Native Plant Nursery
- Assist in nursery operation (i.e., planting, hosting grade school students)
April-June Maintenance Season
- Maintenence Days
- Implement restoration practices such as irrigation, plant removal, seed collection
- Tool maintenence upkeep and restoration site preparation
- Data Monitoring
- Collection of Restoration sites data such as plant health and growth
- Best Management Practices
- Assure restoratin site health from plant illnesses such as Sudden Oak Death through sanitation and testing
