Want to bring Smithsonian resources to students, teachers, and families in Head Start programs nationwide this year? AND get to hang around the amazing animals at the National Zoo? We're looking for an Education and Program Coordinator for the "Get a Head Start with the Smithsonian" project!

Summary

The National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute (NZCBI) has a requirement for early childhood education and program coordination services to support the “Get A Head Start with the Smithsonian” (GHSS) project. The GHSS Education and Program Coordinator will work with the NZCBI Manager of Early Childhood and Family Learning Experiences to: 

  • Develop high-quality educational programs, resources, and materials to engage Head Start students, teachers, and families with NZCBI, animals, and science, 
  • Facilitate in-person and virtual live programs for Head Start students 
  • Work with educators from across the SI to integrate resources and content from other SI units to create activities, resources, and materials that meet broad educational goals through Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) approaches,  
  • Coordinate and analyze the feedback and evaluations of materials and projects included within the GHSS project, and 
  • Coordinate the operations of the GHSS project. 

This is a contract position, which will be awarded as a Firm Fixed Price line item for organizational, administrative, and educational services for the duration of the contract, beginning on or around October 24, 2022, through July 31, 2023. Hours will vary based on deliverables in each project phase but are estimated at 35–40 per week.
