About the Pacific Beach Coalition:

The Pacific Beach Coalition (PBC) is a growing community of Earth Heroes who are passionate about protecting and preserving the health of our ocean, beaches, wildlife, and coastal environment. Its mission is to preserve the ocean, coastal habitat, and wildlife while ending litter through advocacy, education, community building, and citizen action. The Pacific Beach Coalition is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. The Pacific Beach Coalition is an environmental change maker in the Bay Area and has been operating to achieve this mission since 1997.

Each year a wildlife or plant species is chosen as PBC’s “Earth Honoree,” which guides our education programs, education materials, and communication for the year. Through the Earth Honoree, we want to connect our volunteers and the community to something tangible. We help them realize that all of their actions at home or at the beach have an impact (positive or negative) on the plant or animal. We hope that with the knowledge we bring them, they will transform their negative actions into something positive. For 2022-2023, Nudibranchs (small sea slugs that can be found in the intertidal zone) have been chosen.
