Outdoor Mentor — Alpine Scout Camp
Acton Academy of Bergen County is looking for an Outdoor Mentor to lead one full day of hands-on, nature-based learning per month at our Alpine Scout Camp, working with Elementary, Middle, and High School learners.

What makes this different: Acton's model is learner-driven, not lecture-based. You won't be teaching a lesson plan, you'll be posing questions, setting up challenges, and stepping back to let learners explore, problem-solve, and lead. If you love watching curiosity take the wheel rather than directing it yourself, this role is built for that.

What you'll do:

• Plan and lead one full outdoor day per month (approx 5 hours).
• Design hands-on nature activities appropriate across Elementary to High School ages
• Facilitate Socratic-style exploration rather than direct instruction
• Ensure safety and engagement across a multi-age group

What we're looking for:

• Experience working with children/teens in an outdoor or naturalist setting
• Comfort with a facilitation style over a teaching style
• Reliability for a recurring monthly commitment

Compensation: $85/hour
Schedule: One full day per month (seasonal)
Location: Alpine Scout Camp, Alpine, NJ
