Summary
Since 1995, SDCOE’s Science Outreach programs have been inspiring San Diego County youth, through hands-on programs, to become responsible stewards of their watershed and community. These programs connect with schools throughout the county. With each visit, our science educators work to enhance student knowledge on key environmental issues and system dynamics. The Instructional Internship position develops the skills of those passionate about the environment and working with students. This is a great opportunity for those looking to gain teaching experience and engaging the community about environmental science.
Program Description
- Our educators travel to school sites throughout San Diego County to facilitate two science enrichment programs
- Interact with students of varying ages, learning abilities, and cultural/social dynamics
- They work in small student groups (10 students to 1 educator)
- Program activities are grade level focused for Kindergarten through Eighth Grade
- Open to all majors
- Interns may be enrolled in school or a recent graduate
- $17 per hour
- Must be able to commit to full days of instruction (i.e. 7:00am-3:30pm)
- Work schedule can accommodate other commitments (school, work, personal)
- Must commit to a full school year of employment (Start Date to June)
Compensation Information
$17.00 per hour.
