Conservation Educator

Sauk County is looking for a creative, community-minded conservation professional who can bring Sauk County’s natural resources education to life. As Sauk County’s Conservation Educator, you’ll develop and lead programs that connect landowners, students, farmers, educators, local governments, and community partners with practical conservation solutions. From field days, tours, demonstrations, workshops, classroom presentations, youth programs, water quality monitoring experiences, and outdoor learning opportunities to newsletters, media outreach, and public education campaigns, this role is all about helping people understand, value, and protect the land and water around them.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys both big-picture program development and hands-on community engagement. The Conservation Educator supports the goals of Sauk County’s Land and Water Resource Management Plan, promotes agricultural and urban conservation practices, coordinates programs such as youth conservation education and Clean Sweep, and helps turn the Sauk County Farm into a working classroom for soil health, rotational grazing, wildlife habitat, and other conservation practices. This position also works closely with the Sauk Soil and Water Improvement Group and assists with implementing the programs and projects they offer. The right candidate will bring knowledge of soil and water conservation, natural resources, agriculture, outreach, and education—along with the communication skills to work effectively with landowners, schools, agencies, farmers, local organizations, and the public.
