Chief Operations Officer

Vida Verde is seeking a mission-driven Chief Operations Officer (COO) to help lead a dynamic nonprofit dedicated to educational equity through free overnight environmental education experiences for youth from low-income communities. As the Executive Director’s key leadership partner, the COO will oversee organizational operations, staff management, financial stewardship, and program leadership while helping guide the organization's vision, culture, and long-term success.

This is an opportunity for an experienced leader who is passionate about people, teamwork, and creating meaningful impact. The ideal candidate brings strong nonprofit or organizational leadership experience, excels at building healthy teams, and is energized by working in a collaborative, mission-focused environment. Based on Vida Verde’s beautiful 23-acre campus near Half Moon Bay, the COO will play a critical role in supporting staff, strengthening operations, and ensuring thousands of young people continue to have life-changing experiences in nature. Salary range: $105,000–$125,000 plus benefits and optional on-site housing.
