Do you have a passion for nature, education, being outdoors and working with community members? The Tualatin Hills Nature Center is looking for team-oriented education staff to create and facilitate quality nature programs for youth in the Beaverton area. This is a fantastic employment opportunity for individuals looking to improve their leadership skills in an informal environmental education setting.

Summary

About Our Programs: The Tualatin Hills Nature Center offers a wide range of nature-based programs for children, families, schools, and the broader community, including:

  • Nature Mobile Outreach: Bringing hands-on natural science learning directly to parks, events, and community sites.
  • Preschool & Early Childhood Programs: Including nature-based preschool classes, early learning experiences, and introductory outdoor exploration.
  • Family, Youth & Adult Nature Programs: Guided hikes, nature discovery activities, and interactive workshops.
  • School & Group Programs: Onsite and offsite field trips for elementary students, Scout programs and preschool visits.
  • Day-off, Spring & Summer camps: Seasonal camps focused on outdoor skills, ecology, and nature play.

Staff may contribute to several of these program areas depending on experience, interest, and organizational needs.

A 5% bilingual pay incentive is available for staff who regularly use their bilingual or multilingual skills at work!

Job Openings
Environmental Education Instructor 
The full hourly range for this job classification is $20.15 to $22.71. Staff may be eligible for a merit increase at the end of September.
Summary: Instructors are responsible for planning, preparing, and leading general and specialized activities for nature program participants.
 

Environmental Education Director
The full hourly range for this job classification is $23.32 to $26.29. Staff may be eligible for a merit increase at the end of September.
Summary: Directors oversee the development and implementation of assigned nature programs. This role works independently within established guidelines and provides leadership to part-time staff and volunteers.

Schedule & Hours: We are currently hiring for Summer Camp Substitutes and for variable scheduled programs, including weekends and evenings. Schedule and hours are dependent on program needs.

Compensation Information

Environmental Education Instructor 
Pay Range: $20.15 - $21.41 per hour

Environmental Education Director
Pay Range: $23.32 - $24.79 per hour
