Looking to gain hands-on experience in environmental education? Join the education team at St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge and help connect people of all ages to the natural world while enjoying the beautiful big bend location of Florida.
Summary
This education-focused internship is perfect for students or recent graduates interested in teaching, outreach and interpretation, and working outdoors.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Assist and lead environmental education programs
- Work with students and community groups
- Support outreach events and guided tours
- Create educational materials and social media content
- Help maintain exhibits and program spaces and general facility housekeeping
- Assist with care of education animals (non-venomous)
WHAT YOU’LL GAIN

QUALIFICATIONS
- 21+ and U.S. citizen
- Current college student or recent graduate (education, environmental studies, or related field)
- Strong communication & public speaking skills
- Self-motivated and reliable
- Work well with others
- Comfortable working outdoors (heat, insects, uneven terrain, wildlife)
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Canva, or social media
- Valid driver’s license
- First Aid/CPR certification a plus
TRANSPORTATION
Personal vehicle required for commuting
(Work-related travel provided)

Compensation Information
Weekly Stipend of $200 and shared living accommodations during the internship.
