The Health Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of medical care, physical and mental health and safety of campers and staff during the camp season. They will operate the camp’s health center including the dispensation of medication, maintaining medical and first aid records, and ensuring proper medical procedures are followed. This role serves as a member of the administrative leadership team.
Summary
Job Duties:
Healthcare and Wellbeing*
- Responsible for the physical and mental health and safety of campers and staff.
- Review health records of campers and staff. Inform families and staff when records are incomplete.
- Carry out medical routines including confidential record keeping, disposal of medical waste, managing, security and safeguarding medications (prescribed and OTC).
- Maintain schedule for daily medications for all campers and staff.
- Support staff with camper behavior including observation and record keeping.
- Arrange local medical services and camper/staff transport to services, when needed.
Operations and Administrative*
- Maintain confidentiality as a member of the administrative leadership team.
- Create and maintain the camp health center as a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for campers and staff. Follow daily and weekly sanitation schedule of the health center.
- Monitor, evaluate and provide feedback on general and emergency procedures, and facility conditions. Notify the Camp Director of any notable or new health or safety hazards.
- Assist with food services by monitoring sanitation procedures in the kitchen and dining hall spaces to ensure food processes, distribution and sanitation are effective and safe.
- Assist with staff training at the beginning and throughout the camp season on topics related to physical and mental health and safety.
- Conduct ongoing inventory of medical supplies, including the preparation and monitoring of first aid kits issued to staff, and alert the Camp Director of supplies to be purchased.
- Support with camper instruction on physical and mental health and safety topics.
- Complete accident and incident reports within 24 hours and submit reports to the Camp Director.
- Inform the Camp Director of any camper and staff illnesses or injuries.
- Aid in parental/guardian communication on health concerns.
*Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Required Skills/Experiences:
- Must be 18 or older; 21+ years old preferred.
- Must meet criteria for a Health Supervisor in the state where the camp is located and accompanying credentials; WFA/EMT/RN/LPN/PA or similar licensure preferred.
- Experience in a medical or health care setting.
- Experience working and communicating with children of various ages.
