Summary
This teacher will bring a variety of core education concepts into the Forest School, including history, science, language arts, fine arts, and more! The class is a K-5th blended class with a maximum of 15 students and an assistant. Ability to hike, adventure, and build confidence outdoors are a must. The ideal individual will be self-starting, self-motivated, confident, capable and independent. The Learning Habitat is known for our compassionate, caring, competent and charismatic teachers. We encourage creativity, critical thinking and exploration. No question is too small. No idea is too big. Children love learning again because we make it FUN!
Curriculum will not be provided- the teacher is expected to rely on his/her wealth of knowledge and experience to curate a year's worth of engaging, adaptable, exciting lessons.
There are a number of positions available, but we have a need for the Ballantyne Forest School M-Th from 9am-1pm. We offer classes M-Th 9am-3pm at our other locations in Indian Trail and Monroe, and will have openings there as well, for the right applicant. (All our facilities have extensive outdoor space and require outdoor time every class, every day. Environmental education/ nature studies can be a part of every class, no matter the subject matter. )
