Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Facilitate outdoor activity sessions in a way that ensures all participants feel valued, safe, and included.
- Inspire and connect young people to the natural world through science-based curriculum, natural history, and community relationships.
- Build respectful relationships with students, parents, teachers and fellow instructors.
- Relate positively with people of diverse ages and backgrounds.
- Effectively manage student groups and maintain program safety standards
Create a positive, supportive learning environment for students.
Requirements
- Background in outdoor education, environmental science, outdoor industry guiding or a related field.
- Physical ability to hike moderate distances and carry program equipment.
- Ability to confidently manage and lead groups of students in the outdoors.
- Must be able to commit to a minimum of 3 day programs or 2 overnight programs throughout the Spring season
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Wilderness First Aid or Wilderness First Responder certification
- Spanish fluency
- Experience teaching or supporting educational programs, particularly with youth.
- Experience working with youth in outdoor learning settings.
