Youth Summer Camp Specialist LTE

This position, funded by an ACE grant from the Woodland Park Zoo, involves creating conservation-related content and mentoring youth leaders through a summer camp aimed at middle and high school students. You will collaborate with the Conservation Education Department to develop empathy-driven educational materials and foster youth engagement with conservation careers. This position has a set duration of approximately May 2026–July 2026 (12 wks.) with the actual camp dates of July 11–14. You can expect an average of 15–20 hours per week for the majority of the term.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities & Qualifications

In this role, you will plan and facilitate engaging youth summer camp programming rooted in ICF's conservation goals. Working closely with local community organizations you will help design a comprehensive summer program that blends science and culture through hands-on exploration. Activities will aim to foster empathy and highlight conservation career pathways for participants.

A key component of this position is mentorship for all youth participants of the program. Prior to camp, you will organize and conduct a training session for the high school students selected to serve as youth leaders. Throughout camp, you'll supervise campers throughout daily activities, ensuring a safe, inclusive, and inspiring environment for all participants.

The ideal candidate brings experience working in education or youth camps. A background in wildlife conservation, biology, education, or outreach is highly valued. Candidates should be comfortable communicating with diverse audiences, standing for extended periods lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally, and working both on-site and remotely as needed.
