JOB TITLE: Farm Camp Lead Educator

OVERVIEW 

Berkshire Botanical Garden (BBG) is seeking seasonal Lead Educators for Farm in the Garden Camp, a summer day camp for children ages 4-12 held on the beautiful grounds of the Berkshire Botanical Garden in historic Stockbridge, MA. Campers at Farm in the Garden Camp care for farm animals, harvest food they grow, and participate in various activities. The camp is small by design and runs for nine weeks, following a week-long paid staff training. Farm Camp Lead Educators are supported by the Assistant Camp Director, Camp Director, and Director of Education.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Offer support to Assistant Educators.
  • Responsible for co-leading a group of children ages 4–5, 6–7, 8–9, or 10–12.
  • Responsible for all aspects of camp life: participating in morning circle, running animal chores, craft, and gardening activities.
  • Overseeing snacks and lunchtime.
  • Communicate with the Camp Director regarding behavior or medical issues.
  • Serve as an adult role model for the campers.
  • Be a point person for sheep and chicken care.
  • Maintain care for children’s production garden.
  • Lead farm and garden-based curriculum in addition to activities designed by the educators.
  • Be creative! Educators will be asked to brainstorm activities that the campers will love. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A passion for youth development.
  • Previous experience working with children (required).
  • Experience with crafts, gardening, and farming experience (preferred).
  • Must be highly responsible, self-motivated, flexible, and capable of working outside all day.
  • An abundance of patience for working with children, a good sense of humor, and a strong work ethic.
  • Be able to pass a background check (CORI/SORI) successfully.

Compensation Information

DURATION OF EMPLOYMENT, REQUIRED HOURS, AND SALARY 

Dates of Employment (9 weeks of camp plus 1 week of camp training): Monday, June 15, 2026, through Friday, Aug. 21, 2026.

Hours/Salary: Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. $20.00 per hour, 35 hours per week.
