This role is ideal for someone who’s energetic, creative, and comfortable leading groups of kids in dynamic outdoor environments. You’ll guide themed hikes, games, crafts, and hands-on activities while working alongside a supportive education team in some of Northeast Ohio’s most beautiful natural spaces.
Summary
The Summer Camp Education Instructor leads and supports environmental education day camps for children ages 6–13 at Holden Arboretum and Cleveland Botanical Garden. This position is responsible for delivering pre-designed, high-quality educational experiences—including themed hikes, off-site excursions, crafts, games, and skill-building workshops—in safe and engaging outdoor settings.
Education Instructors participate in mandatory training, prepare program materials, assist with daily camp logistics, and collaborate with internal and external instructors to ensure smooth camp operations. This role requires strong group management skills, clear communication with campers and families, and the ability to maintain health and safety standards while working outdoors in varied conditions.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in environmental education, youth development, or nature-based learning to gain hands-on experience within a collaborative, mission-driven organization.
Camp sessions run 9:00am–3:00pm Monday-Friday from June to early August. Mandatory camp staff training takes place at the end of May. Average hours 30-40/week.
