This is a 13-week seasonal position with shared housing. Typically, our staff consist of current college students or recent graduates looking for some of their first work experience in outdoor/environmental education. The Assistant Coordinator arrives a few weeks ahead of the rest of the staff and assists me with opening the museums and preparation for staff arrival. When the rest of the staff begin, we have a week of basic animal husbandry and education training. We then collect native fish, reptiles and amphibians to populate our museums, The museum educators are responsible for caring for these critters, with support from me, the Assistant Coordinator, and the zookeeping staff from Trailside Museums & Zoo. Our aim is that these critters and the close encounters the summer campers have with them through our programs will build connections for the campers to more fully appreciate and care about the natural world around them.
