Summary

The Stewardship and Outreach Assistant supports SFWA’s efforts to inspire community engagement, strengthen partnerships, and communicate the importance of a healthy watershed. Working collaboratively across the SFWA team and reporting to the Director of Stewardship and Outreach, this role connects media, stewardship, and community outreach activities to advance equity and environmental sustainability. About SFWA 
The Santa Fe Watershed Association is a non-profit organization that works to build a thriving, resilient Santa Fe River Watershed through collaboration, stewardship, and education that inspires us all to care for our land, water, and each other. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Create and schedule engaging content for SFWA’s social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube).
  • Collaborate with staff to design and share outreach materials tied to events and programs.
  • Identify opportunities to grow SFWA’s reach and partnerships.
  • Support website updates, cleanup events, and educational workshops.
  • Maintain data systems that track volunteer stewards, sponsors, and program activity and participation.
  • Participate in team projects and assist with other mission-aligned tasks as needed. 

Qualifications & Skills 

  • Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
  • Experience or interest in social media strategy and marketing, graphic design, photography, and community storytelling.
  • Familiarity with or aptitude for platforms like Facebook, Instagram, MailChimp, Canva, WordPress, and Microsoft 365.
  • Passion for learning and environmental stewardship.
  • Connection to Northern New Mexico and the Santa Fe area.
  • Comfort working outdoors and engaging with diverse communities.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends. 

Compensation Information

$22/hour | ~20 hours/week

This position is primarily in-person, with some flexibility for remote work related to communications and scheduling. After 90 days, benefits include a $50 healthcare stipend per pay period, one week of flexible PTO and two weeks of fixed PTO annually (based on average hours worked) and accrued sick leave.
