Summary
The ideal candidate for this position will have: 1-2 years of experience with wildlife/animal care, handling, husbandry and medicine; a specific knowledge of New England Wildlife species, current challenges, research and management; experience as a practiced nature-based educator of all ages. Ideal candidates will also have experience training and mentoring volunteers and interns, along with superior time management and organizational skills. A bachelor's or master’s degree from a four-year college or university in the fields of zoology, veterinary science, wildlife biology or ecology, environmental education/science, is preferred.
The position is hourly, working 40 hours per week on a Tuesday through Saturday weekly schedule. Early and late hours are required regularly due to program scheduling. Hourly wage is $18 per hour. This position includes full-time benefits including: 11 paid holidays; accrued paid time off; employee IRA program and 3% contribution (after 1 year); professional development stipend; and organization-wide professional memberships

Since inception CFW has treated over 85,000 injured and orphaned wild animals, and presented environmental education programming to over 100,000 community members. Recently, CFW completed fundraising, construction, and transitioning to a new, $10M facility and campus that includes a Nature Center, outdoor amphitheater, auditorium and indoor classroom, ambassador village and interpretive nature trails and outdoor play spaces.

Compensation Information
Compensation
- Hourly pay, $18.00 per hour, not to exceed 40 hours per week. One weekend day is required.
- Annual performance reviews are performed by the Education & Outreach Director and the Executive Director, and merit-based raises may be eligible depending on annual budget and position’s ability to successfully meet or exceed department earned income targets.
