Center for Wildlife - Dynamic and unique conservation medicine and nature-based education center seeks a full-time, experienced wildlife care technician and seasoned nature educator. The Wildlife Educator & Caretaker is responsible for: the care, enrichment and training of our non-releasable, ambassador animals; delivering a wide variety of programming; caring for our Nature Center and Campus educational areas; training others to work with ambassadors; and overseeing and managing volunteers.

Summary

The ideal candidate for this position will have: 1-2 years of experience with wildlife/animal care, handling, husbandry and medicine; a specific knowledge of New England Wildlife species, current challenges, research and management; experience as a practiced nature-based educator of all ages. Ideal candidates will also have experience training and mentoring volunteers and interns, along with superior time management and organizational skills. A bachelor's or master’s degree from a four-year college or university in the fields of zoology, veterinary science, wildlife biology or ecology, environmental education/science, is preferred.

The position is hourly, working 40 hours per week on a Tuesday through Saturday weekly schedule. Early and late hours are required regularly due to program scheduling. Hourly wage is $18 per hour. Compensation

Hourly pay, $18.00 per hour, not to exceed 40 hours per week. One weekend day is required.
Annual performance reviews are performed by the Education & Outreach Director and the Executive Director, and merit-based raises may be eligible depending on annual budget and position’s ability to successfully meet or exceed department earned income targets.
