Science Education at Seas (SEAS) Instructor
· Part-time and seasonal position
· Assists the Outreach Coordinator and other Education staff in teaching standardized programs to groups of students from grades 4-12. The SEAS program is a 3-hour, ship-based program, including trawling, biodiversity assessments, and plankton, fish and invertebrate studies. Boats depart from Wildwood Crest, New Jersey.
· Helps with the supervision of student groups before and after the program.
· Assists with maintenance of teaching supplies, and preparation and cleanup of equipment aboard the boat before and after the program.
· It is expected that this position will work no more than 25 hours per week from approximately mid-April to mid-June and mid-September to mid-October.
Summer Nature Program Instructor
· Part-time and seasonal position.
· Develops and conducts classroom and outdoor activities focused on exploring coastal environments such as salt marsh wetlands and ocean habitants and their associated wildlife and environmental concepts.
· Supervises and teaches a specific age group of children, with the overall program consisting of children ranging from age 4 to age 13.
· Assists with maintenance and organization of teaching supplies as well as maintaining teaching spaces in a “public-ready” condition.
· It is expected that this position must be available to work a full Summer Nature Program schedule from June 24 – August 19, 2026, including an initial training session in mid-June.
Seasonal Naturalist
· Part-time and seasonal position.
· Assists the Director of Educational Program Development and other Education staff in teaching standardized programs to groups of students from grades preK-12. These programs include Wetlands Ecology, Barrier Beach Ecology, Cycles of Life, Beach Exploration, Horseshoe Crabs and Shorebirds, Turtle Talk, Marsh Critter Discovery Walk and Featured Environmental Education Field Trip Programs.
· Helps with the supervision of student groups during breaks, in bathrooms, and in the Tidepool Shop.
· Assists with maintenance of teaching supplies, and preparation and cleanup of teaching materials before and after the program.
· It is expected that this position will work no more than 25 hours per week from approximately mid-April to mid-June and mid-September to mid-November.
Compensation Information
All Seasonal Educators are compensated at current NJ Minimum Wage of $15.92/hour.
Housing is NOT provided. All applicants must live or be able to commute locally.
