Environmental Education Interns play a vital role in delivering our Students for Salmon (SFS) program by teaching about salmon habitat on outdoor field trips for 4th grade students, creating a lasting impact on future generations of environmental stewards. The Environmental Education Internship offers hands-on experience and professional growth for aspiring leaders in environmental science and education.

Summary

The Environmental Education Internship is designed to support NSEA’s Program Team by facilitating outdoor education field trips throughout Whatcom County for 4th grade students between September and June. Regular programming occurs on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. During the month of March, we will have salmon release field trips Mondays-Fridays. Ideal candidates will be available for three weekdays (Wed-Fri), specifically prioritizing Wednesdays and Fridays due to program needs.

Spring quarter takes place February 9 – June 5, which will often have 3-5 field trips per week. Hours fluctuate throughout the quarter, and schedules will be released one month in advance.

Compensation Information

Compensation is $19.13/hour and hours average between 16 and 24 per week.
