The School Garden Network is seeking an energetic, creative Garden Camp Manager to lead our 4–6 week Summer Garden Camp for children ages 6–11. This role combines program design, staff leadership, and hands-on teaching in a vibrant outdoor learning environment.

Schedule: Part-time remote (Spring), Full-time onsite (Summer)

Term: Seasonal

 

Responsibilities

Program Development (Spring – Part-time Remote)

- Design daily nature-based activities: gardening, cooking, crafts, hikes, games, leadership challenges.

- Develop leadership opportunities for Junior Educators (ages 12–17).

- Update the camp handbook.

- Recruit and hire camp instructors.

- Plan and facilitate a 3-day staff training in June.

Program Management (Summer – Full-time Onsite)

- Manage camper registration and parent communication.

- Supervise and support camp instructors.

- Co-teach activities and collaborate on daily planning.

- Participate in all staff trainings and camp events.

Communications

- Maintain regular communication with SGN’s Executive Director and school garden staff at camp host schools.

- Represent SGN professionally.

- Capture photos and content for newsletters, website, and social media.

 

Qualifications

- Commitment to SGN’s mission and garden-based education.

- 3+ years leading outdoor education programs or youth camps.

- Experience in curriculum development.

- Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.

- Ability to lift 50 lbs and lead outdoor activities in all weather.

- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

- Current (or willing to obtain) First Aid & CPR certification.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

- Spanish proficiency a plus.
