Summary

Lead Playworker — Gardens Mixed Ages Primary Program

We are seeking a compassionate, creative educator to join our Gardens program, a part-time, immersive outdoor learning experience serving children ages 3–7. Playworkers support child-led exploration, protect the play space, document learning, and help co-construct a vibrant learning community with children, families, and BNS staff. Ideal candidates bring experience with the Reggio Emilia approach or similar child-led philosophies, outdoor/emergent learning, and strong interpersonal skills for collaborative work with both children and adults.

Schedule
• Full-time: Monday-Friday 8 AM-4 PM (School day 9 AM-3PM)
• Additional time allocated for documentation, newsletters, and family conversations
• Cohort size: 10–12 families, supported by one lead and one playwork intern
• Includes vacation programming such as Spring and Summer Camps

We Seek Individuals Who:
Significant early childhood education experience (minimum 3 years in supportive, developmental roles)
• Experience in outdoor education, emergent learning, or playwork philosophy
• Ability to embrace play as a foundation for learning
• Commitment to anti-racist, anti-bias, and consent-based education
• Physical ability and willingness to work outdoors in all weather
• Patience, curiosity, and creativity in child-led environments
• Skills (or willingness to learn skills) in conflict transformation and restorative justice
• Legal authorization to work in the U.S.

Strongly Desired
• Bilingual (Spanish/English or another language)

Compensation Information
