Chino Basin Water Conservation District is seeking an enthusiastic, creative professional who is passionate about environmental education & water conservation to join our dynamic team in Montclair, CA!

CBWCD is currently accepting applications for a Community Engagement Specialist I or II (CES I/II). Position placement will depend on experience and qualifications.

This individual shall possess the creative vision to advance the department’s goals and services by assisting with the development and implementation of educational programs, public relations, community outreach, and media relations activities.

Summary

The Chino Basin Water Conservation District located in Montclair, CA is currently accepting applications for a Community Engagement Specialist I or II (CES I/II). This position assists and/or leads in the development and implementation of public outreach/relations, educational programs, and media relations projects and activities for the department under the direction of the Community Engagement Manager. 

The Community Engagement Department at CBWCD provides youth education programs, hosts community events, and promotes the district’s programs and resources to raise public awareness of the Chino Groundwater Basin to help residents protect, value, and use water wisely.

Utilizes place-based experiential and inquiry-based environmental education best practices to teach K-12 students about water conservation and watershed science in a classroom, field, and garden-based setting. 

Administers, manages, and coordinates youth education programs and other education efforts as needed.

Facilitates District outreach programs and represents the District in a wide variety of public interactions.

Advances the District’s marketing and branding programs to promote water conservation and education & assists with executing community and outreach events.

Compensation Information

The position offers a competitive salary with a highly attractive benefits package. This is an hourly/non-exempt position with a starting hourly rate based on the competitive labor market and the successful candidate’s qualifications. Some additional CBWCD benefits include: retirement benefits through CalPERS, health insurance coverage up to $2,431.47 per month, and 14 paid holidays per year.

The salary range for the positions are:

CES I: $31.65 - $41.53 per hour

CES II: $35.81 - $46.99 per hour 

3% COLA effective January 1, 2026
