Summary
The ideal candidate will have a passion for making a positive and impactful difference in the lives of urban youth through the discovery and study of our natural world. The SEP Manager will guide students' through the process of research project design, data collection and analysis, and final project presentation, while incorporating a welcoming, fun residential experience for all participants. This position will be responsible for overseeing planning and implementation of the SEP schedule and activities, managing a small staff of seasonally-contracted educators and a cook, and will report directly to the Vice President of Programs.
Job Availability
This is a temporary, full-time position, running from June 22-July 25, 2026
Must be available to meet with staff, engage with the local community, and co-design the program experience before staff training
We are seeking candidates who
- Facilitate a fun, engaging, community where urban youth feel comfortable outside and inspired to learn about our natural world.
- Maintain high standards of scientific inquiry by building from an existing curriculum and designing an outline for independent research projects.
- Train and manage a team of three staff (1 Lead Educator, 1 Assistant Educator, 1 Cook)
- Maintain and foster strong community relations by collaborating and engaging with community members and local partnerships.
- With the support of Christodora’s administration, direct and manage all program schedules, logistics, and risk management plans including overnight supervision of youth in an outdoor residential setting.
Requirements
- Local regulations require candidates to be at least 25 years old
- Demonstrated proof of supervising or working at programs with similar educational content
- Excellent motivational, organizational, and communication skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s in a related discipline required
- First Aid/CPR certification required; prefer candidates with current Wilderness First Aid and CPR/AED certifications
- Current Driver’s License and a Safe Driving Record. Must be comfortable operating 15-passenger vans, towing canoe trailers, towing small-equipment trailers, and training others to do the same.
- Local regulations require background clearances, three professional references, medical physical, and immunization history.
SEP is a residential program and requires the Director to live on-site for the duration of the program. The Director is part of an on-call support system.

Compensation Information
- Competitive contracted rate of $7,000 for the duration of the contract
