Trees For Tomorrow (TFT) is an accredited residential environmental education center in Eagle River that has been promoting conservation education since 1944. Today, TFT works with thousands of participants to promote sustainable natural resource management through transformative educational experiences. Summary
Trees For Tomorrow environmental educators work as a team to teach visiting K-12 school groups, adult groups, and community programs. The work is diverse, as we host a wide range of audiences, from 3-93 (and beyond)!
Environmental Science Educator Responsibilities:
- Teach environmental science in the forests and waters of Wisconsin’s Northwoods
- Present courses and special programs in a knowledgeable, stimulating, engaging, and objective manner
- Guide participants of all ages and backgrounds in safe outdoor inquiry-based learning and activities.
- Work with education team to write and edit curriculum and assess student learning
- Operate all equipment related to course and program presentation.
- Interact with live program animals, and animal artifacts such as skulls, pelts, and other taxidermy.
- Other duties as assigned, including opportunities to create and coordinate programs you are passionate about!
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in field of natural resources, biology, education or related field preferred, though relevant experience may be considered in lieu of education.
- Experience in the field(s) of outdoor education, general education, or natural sciences preferred.
- Familiarity with Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) preferred but not required
- Current valid driver’s license
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to manage a group of participants outdoors (30+ at a time).
- Willingness to learn and teach outdoor skills such hiking, canoeing, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, etc.
- High sense of professionalism, strong team player, positive attitude
- Good organizational skills, self-motivated and willing to take initiative to learn
- Willingness to interact with live program animals and taxidermy
- Ability to walk 5 miles per day with a 10lb pack over rough terrain, and lift 25 lbs. overhead
- Ability to drive a 15-passenger van with a canoe trailer
- Willingness to learn how to handle live raptor independently within 1 year of hire.
- Willingness to work some nights and weekends.

Compensation Information
$18/hour
