Summary
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Leads educational programs and field trips with a focus on soil, storm water, water quality and backyard conservation to a variety of youth audiences and communities.
•Assists with community events on weekends and evenings including loading/unloading and setting up displays/activities, interacting with the public and keeping track of visitor numbers.
•Communicates with teachers, partners and potential partners about environmental education opportunities and experiences.
•Works with the Public Outreach Coordinator to update FSWCD Environmental Education web content.
•Works jointly with Education Specialist to promote, coordinate and prepare high school teams for the area Envirothon competition.
•Assists with providing professional development for educators.
•Assists in organizing and promoting the annual conservation poster contest.
•Assists with producing written and digital educational materials aligned to Ohio’s current science standards.
•Prepares and updates program materials/displays as needed for educational programs/outreach including: upkeep and maintenance of education models, cleaning equipment, refilling containers and making any necessary repairs.
•Supports the Terrific Resources for Environmental Education (TREE) consortium.
Qualifications:
•Associates degree, bachelor’s degree or qualifying previous experience preferred.
•Valid driver’s license and good driving record; Ability to secure transportation to and from work/events.
•Able to pass a local and federal background check.
•Excellent public relations and public speaking skills, including ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
•Proactive, dependable and motivated; Ability to be flexible and quickly make decisions to enhance program delivery; Able to follow directions and positively respond to feedback.
•Demonstrate an appreciation for and understanding of natural resource conservation.
•Knowledge of educational pedagogy in both formal and informal settings.
•Experience and interest in working with students in grades PreK-12.
•Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors in a variety of weather/conditions.
•Familiarity with or ability to learn and use popular computer software (including, but not limited to, Outlook, Adobe Creative Cloud Products, MS PowerPoint, Word and Excel, Calendly, Google Drive).
•Able to lift at least 20 lbs.

Compensation Information
Salary Range and Benefits:
•Starting Pay $20-24, based on knowledge, skills and experience.
•Part-time approximately 20-25 hours/week: Ideal candidate works a set schedule of at least three full days, with some flexibility for events and sick leave coverage.
•Annual Leave, Holiday and sick leave benefits; Public Employees Retirement System benefits.
•Certification in various Environmental Education Curriculum which may include Project Learning Tree, Project WET, Project WILD.
•Opportunity to shadow other professionals within the environmental field.
