Medway Community Farm is hiring for the 2025 Fun on the Farm summer program. We’re looking for enthusiastic team members to help kids explore nature and farming through hands-on activities. Summary

Medway Community Farm is seeking Counselors for our Fun on the Farm summer program. At Fun on the Farm, we combine outdoor education, arts and crafts, games, and practical gardening experience to provide kids with a fun, active and engaging summer of learning from the land. The summer program serves children ages 6-10 and is held Monday-Thursday from June 30-August 28. 

Counselors will be responsible for leading activities, supervising students, and assisting the Lead Counselor and Education Coordinator in ensuring that the summer program runs smoothly and safely. This position is part-time (Mon-Thurs, about 32 hours per week) and seasonal, beginning the week of June 23 with a staff training and concluding on the last day of the program, August 28

The Counselors’ responsibilities include: 

  • Set-up and implementation of the summer program’s daily curriculum and schedule
  • Enthusiastic facilitation of lessons, activities, and games to promote engagement
  • Maintenance of the program’s raised vegetable beds and leading students in weekly harvests
  • Review of safety rules with students
  • Parental interaction at drop off and pick up times
  • Maintenance and organization of educational supplies
  • Daily clean-up to return the farm environment to its pre-activity status
  • Collaboration with farm staff and guest educators 

The ideal applicants will possess these qualifications: 

  • Able to problem solve and think creatively on the fly
  • Can communicate clearly and convey excitement with young people
  • Enjoys working outdoors, digging in the dirt, exploring nature and learning about growing food
  • Has great time management and organizational skills
  • Physical requirements include ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Able to navigate trails and uneven surfaces, and to work outside in any weather
  • Has reliable transportation
  • Is certified in CPR and First Aid or willing to obtain the certification
  • Able to show proof of COVID vaccination at start date
  • Must pass a CORI/SORI and Federal background check
