Work as an integral part of Stony Kill Foundation's education team! Work closely with the Program Director to contribute to development, planning, and facilitation of a wide variety of environmental and agricultural programming. Gain lifelong skills, professional competencies, and grow as a professional in a close-knit community of environmental, historical, and agricultural enthusiasts.

Summary

Stony Kill Foundation oversees the daily operations and community programming at the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) owned Stony Kill Farm Environmental Education Center in Dutchess County, NY. This position will contribute to all aspects of education at the farm, including the planning, preparation, and delivery of our Homeschool on the Farm program, field trips, and public programs & workshops. The approximately 6-month term will ideally start in January of 2025 with the potential for extension into the summer season for the right candidate. Candidates should enjoy spending time outdoors, have an interest in sharing the environment with children and adults alike, and have a talent for teaching and inspiring curiosity in others.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead environmental and agricultural activities and lessons for the Homeschool on the Farm program, field trips, and public programs & workshops.
  • Assist in planning and facilitating private events, including Scout programs, individual tours, and more.
  • Assist with farm tasks including feeding animals, mucking barn, restocking feed, organizing barn areas, general cleanup, moving hay bales and equipment, etc.

Compensation Information

This position pays $15.50 per hour for 20-30 hours per week. Weekly hours determined by availability of work.
