Summary
This position’s professional work involves the research, design, development, coordination, and evaluation of the North Carolina Zoo’s school in-person (onsite and offsite) and self-guided education programs for K-8 students, library programs, teacher workshops and serves as the co-chair of the Zoo’s teacher advisory council. This position develops curricula, teaching methods, resources, and any additional classroom support that help teachers meet North Carolina Department of Public Instruction educational goals and align with the standard course of study. Programs take a multidisciplinary approach with a focus on STEM education.
Employee trains, handles, and presents a variety of animals (invertebrates, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals) for programs as part of classroom and zoo-based programs for teachers and students. This position directly supervises, schedules, coaches, and trains one to two seasonal education staff. This position works cooperatively with staff in other Zoo departments and serves as a content expert for teachers and community members while achieving the overall mission of the North Carolina Zoo.

***Pay Grade NC06 - Recruitment Range - $33,272 - $44,633***
