Great short-term consulting opportunity for an environmental educator! We've got an outline developed and need someone to turn it into a series of three workshops for adults, to help them understand what climate change is, how it impacts them, and how they can prepare for it. It will be presented in environmental justice communities in Queens, New York - the most diverse place in the nation. Immediate start date.

Summary

Queens Public Library is looking for an experienced educator to develop a series of three 45-60 minute workshops for adults that focus on 1) understanding the basics of climate change, individual and community health impacts and ramifications of climate change; 2) steps for family and emergency preparedness for climate-related events and, 3) legislation in New York City (current and upcoming) designed to reduce global warming and its impacts. The resulting workshops will be delivered by environmental studies graduate students at our public libraries. The ideal candidate has experience developing climate and environmental education curriculum and workshops for adults; a strong knowledge of earth systems and climate change; knowledge of climate-related legislation in New York City and New York State, and how it relates to federal and global climate goals; and experience developing presentations in Microsoft Power Point.
