Summary
Queens Public Library is looking for an experienced educator to develop a series of three 45-60 minute workshops for adults that focus on 1) understanding the basics of climate change, individual and community health impacts and ramifications of climate change; 2) steps for family and emergency preparedness for climate-related events and, 3) legislation in New York City (current and upcoming) designed to reduce global warming and its impacts. The resulting workshops will be delivered by environmental studies graduate students at our public libraries. The ideal candidate has experience developing climate and environmental education curriculum and workshops for adults; a strong knowledge of earth systems and climate change; knowledge of climate-related legislation in New York City and New York State, and how it relates to federal and global climate goals; and experience developing presentations in Microsoft Power Point. Excellent research and writing skills required. This grant-funded, paid consulting work has an immediate start date, with a projected completion date of December 2024 or sooner.
