Summary
Ideal candidates are scholars with interests in environmental economic policy questions related to forests, land use, biodiversity, conservation, the land use-water nexus, climate change and nature-based solutions, outdoor recreation, or the connection between natural resources and sustainable development. Applicants should demonstrate potential to publish in top disciplinary and interdisciplinary journals while collaborating with other social and natural scientists as well as economists.
The successful candidate will be enthusiastic about teaching economics to early-career environmental professionals and scholars studying within the Yale School of the Environment (YSE) and The Forest School within YSE, whose interests range from forests products to biodiversity, to climate change. There may also be opportunities to teach undergraduate students in the Environmental Studies program.
Applicants are expected to have a PhD in economics, applied economics, agricultural economics, or an interdisciplinary PhD with evidence of strong PhD-level economics training or similar.
The successful applicant will be expected to: 1) teach and mentor students at the PhD, masters and potentially undergraduate levels, 2) develop an internationally recognized research program that involves graduate students, 3) facilitate interdisciplinary research, and 4) contribute to building an inclusive academic environment.
Prior to applying, candidates are encouraged to explore the School’s website (http://environment.yale.edu) and consider how their expertise can complement existing strengths within the School. Yale University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
