Join the team at Audubon Community Nature Center in this full-time, year-round educator position teaching nature and science-based contracted educational programs. Most programs are elementary age audience in school classrooms, schoolyards, field trips and summer day camp. Assist with the care of live animals including reptiles, amphibians, and birds of prey.

Summary

The Nature Educator’s primary responsibilities include teaching nature and science-based contracted educational programs as well as public programs offered at the Nature Center and in the community. Programs include school classroom programs, guided nature walks, birthday parties, live animal programs, play facilitation programs, educational outreach, and intergenerational nature education programs. This person is educational support for various festivals, events, fundraisers, and programs as needed. Includes one Saturday per month, and the normal schedule is 40 hours per week.

ACNC is located at 1600 Riverside Rd in Jamestown, New York, close to the border of Pennsylvania. The 12,000 square-foot Nature Center building hosts exhibits, live animals, gift shop, classroom space, offices, and restrooms. The 570-acre grounds hosts more than 6 miles of trails which include a variety of bridges, observation towers, overlooks, and photo blinds. A year-round staff of nine full-time and three-part time staff currently oversee the programs and operations. Temporary/seasonal staff are hired to help facilitate programs throughout the winter and summer months. Over 18,000 visitors use the trails each year, in addition to thousands more students on field trips, at summer Day Camps, and other programs. Seasonal festivals, in addition to other events, attract visitors from the tri-state area throughout the year.

Compensation Information

Salary Range: $35,360 - $47,840
