Summary

POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT 

DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT AND OPERATIONS (PART TIME) 

Location: From home/occasional travel (typically within NJ)

Position Overview 

The Alliance for New Jersey Environmental Education (ANJEE) is looking for a part-time Director of Development and Operations. This position is responsible for development and cultivation of new and existing capacity building relationships and administration of ANJEE operations. The position reports directly to the Board of Trustees and collaborates with Committee Chairs and Volunteers, ensuring that all activities are in accordance and alignment with ANJEE’s mission, vision, strategic plan, by-laws, and policies. 

Summary of Essential Job Functions 

Development and Fundraising: 

● Cultivate donors, sponsorship solicitations, and other fundraising and development needs of ANJEE. 

● Build recognition and relationships for ANJEE and environmental education through effective partnerships and media profile. 

● Craft compelling communications to members and other stakeholders through press releases and social media. 

● Provide professional development opportunities in addition to the annual conferences. 

● Coordinate seasonal regional member meetings. 

● Work with the Board of Trustees to set fundraising goals, and design and implement a fundraising plan to meet those goals. 

● Secure and manage grants to further the mission of ANJEE and engage the support and assistance of volunteers where appropriate. 

● Assist Board of Trustees with the planning, publicity, and coordination of ANJEE’s Autumn and Winter Conferences. 

● Maintain working relationships with North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) staff, membership, and other state Affiliates. 

● Attend weekday NAEEE Affiliate meetings/calls. 

Business Operations: 

● Report to the Board of Trustees regularly concerning progress/problems of organizational mission. 

● Maintain ANJEE donor database. 

● Serve at Registrar for annual conferences. 

● Assist Treasurer to develop an Annual Operating Budget.

● Work with the Treasurer to ensure adherence to ANJEE’s legal obligations and reporting requirements, given ANJEE’s incorporation and federal charitable status. 

● Engage in pre-approved professional development opportunities that will enhance leadership, management, or other skill areas. 

Performance Attributes and Qualifications 

● A bachelor’s degree is required. 

● Background or experience in education, administration, business, or a natural resources-related field is preferred but not required. 

● Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with and motivate others in small/large group settings. 

● A minimum of two years experience with management/administration of a non-profit organization. 

● Demonstrated, direct experience in fundraising and/or grant management. 

● Experience with conference/event coordination. 

● Expertise with relationship building and a high level of responsibility for project management. 

● Commitment to building positive relationships with equitable access across diverse cultural backgrounds, including those associated with race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, socioeconomic status, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and other aspects of human diversity to work toward justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. 

● Mastery of Office Suite and Google Suite. 

● Experience with social media content development and analytics. 

● Experience with bookkeeping and financial management to include creating and managing a budget. 

● Valid driver’s license and transportation. The employee will work predominantly from home (or another location) and be able to travel for meetings, conferences, etc. 

● Currently eligible to work in the USA.

Compensation Information
